To all Incantor's Guild Members,
We have a very limited amount of training resources at our disposal this year and as such have had to introduce a new process for members to follow when requesting access to those resources.
The skills that the Guild can teach it's members are broken down into tiers, 1 to 5. In addition some of these are also referred to as restricted skills - this is because there are very few people qualified to teach these and the resources needed are extremely limited.
In the first instance members should approach our Training Co-ordinator, Simion Von Beck, so that they can be referred to the appropriate place and their name added to our master list of those requesting training. All members will be asked to show their Incantor's Guild membership certificate when requesting training. Training is not available to non-members.
The process is then as follows:
Non-restricted tier 1 and 2 skillsThose members requesting training in the basic tier 1 and 2 non-restricted skills will be invited to attend a short interview with two or more Guildmasters so they can make their request. Please remember that many of these skills are able to be self taught over a longer period of time, so interviewees will be asked why they feel it is important that they have access to the resources immediately. They will also be asked about their commitment to the Guild.
Once the interviews are complete the Guildmasters will decide where to allocate the resources and the successful candidates will be informed as soon as possible and issued with the relevant paperwork allowing them access to their training.
Non-restricted tier 3 and 4 skillsThose members requesting training in the non restricted tier 3 and 4 skills will need to belong to one of our 3 Colleges of Incantation. They will then be invited to attend a short interview with the Head of their College and one or more Guildmasters to make their request. Again they will be asked why they feel that their need is immediate and about their commitment to the Guiild and their College.
If a request is for a mixture of tier 1 and 2 and tier 3 and 4 skills then there is a requirement for only one interview and that will be with the Head of the relevant College and at least one Guildmaster as above.
Again, once the interviews are complete successful candidates will be informed as soon as possible and issued with the relevant access.
Tier 5 and restricted skillsThese skills can currently only be taught in the Guild by Ornesis, Cai-Lin and Storn. They each have a limited number of apprentices overall they can take on each year and even then the number and type of skills they can teach are limited.
They each can take one apprentice per year for training in a tier 5 skill, and those places have already been filled for this year. Members are welcome to approach them to request consideration for training in future years, although there is a waiting list and stringent requirements to be fulfilled.
For those members requesting training in other specialised skills such as Light Incantation, Dark Incantation and Theology, again apprentice places are few, and as such a list of all those interested is being compiled. Members requesting this type of training will then be required to take a test of faith and worthiness, as well as being interviewed.
We conducted our first series of interviews at the Fayre and we were able to grant a number of requests. We will advise when and where interviews for the Moots will take place on the Guild noticeboard at the beginning of the first Moot.
The Guild may well find that they have further training resources later in the year, so therefore if someone is unsuccessful in obtaining training their request will be kept on file and reviewed again should the resources increase.
Guild Command believe this process for requesting training is fair and open, and hope that all members appreciate that we will do our best to fufill requests but that given our position some people will be disappointed. We will always explain why candidates were unsuccessful and will be happy to discuss alternative methods they can use to obtain training.
If you have any questions about this announcement then please ask either our Training Co-ordinator or one of the Guildmasters.
In faith, Cai-Lin
OOC NoteThe LT have issued much fewer OSP training vouchers for the instant learn OSPs this year than last, both to the Guilds and Factions, and as such we have had to put in a fair IC process for obtaining them. These vouchers have varying expiry dates so a number were given out at GEF so they could be redeemed in time. We will give out more at the Moots and save a few for the Gathering. The LT have said they will review the situation later in the year and may issue more vouchers - however, there is no guarantee of that. I know that means that some of you will be disappointed, but don't forget you have got the self teach option - either via games control or pre-book.
Vouchers have not been issued for any of the restricted skills - these have to be learnt via someone who has the Tutor OSP. A Tutor can only teach two skills per year.
Other Guilds have probably got different methods for issuing their vouchers however we decided that this was going to be our approach, and so far, at the GEF it worked, providing some good opportunities for role play with the interviews and guild members putting their case across.
