OSP Confusion

Hi, I have a question about OSP skills.

I've been playing my incantor for a while and this year decided to join the guild and buy some OSPs for my character. I bought "Immune to Fear" and "+4 Spell Cards" at the Gathering over the weekend, can I now self teach myself "Transcend Armour" over the winter period ready for the GEF1108?

I've read through the OSP guide and cannot see any restriction on my not doing so, I just thought i'd ask to make sure. Do I need a training voucher for such a skill? I've always been very confused about how OSP's work.

So, do I need to do anything now? or tell anyone anything?

Or do I just put "Transcend Armour" on next years form.

I have 20 OSP left in tokens (having found the 10 that I thought I had lost, yay!)

Do I send the tokens with the pre-booking form or do I hand them in at the GEF?

Good and bad news (as I make sense of the OSP Book)...

Bad
- You can not teach yourself anything over the winter if you have not already informed Games Control at a main event.
- Only OSP's that are logged electronically with Games Control allow pre-event learning, your newly found token will not be electronic until you book it in at a main event.

Good
- You can actually pre-book with up to 4 new (unrestricted) OSP's on your character so long as you have sufficient electronic OSP's from the previous year.

So, from what you say you have 10 OSP's electronic, and a 10 OSP's in tokens. This means you would at this stage only be able to pre-book with a single 10 OSP skill.

So, bad news if there's no 10 OSP skills you want...

If you buy OSPs when you pre-book for next season it's assumed it's skills learnt over the winter, rather than you wake up one morning and suddenly realise you have that ability/skill.

Only OSPs stored on the database can be used when purchasing OS skills, you'll have to register the tokens you have before they can be used, and there may be a delay of unknown time before those OSPs will be available to use.

Although when you prebook the main events next year, the OSPs you are due will be automatically added to your database record, so if you book for all 3 events you'll have an additional 30 OSPs to spend when you pre-book. Although it's been pointed out that you aren't allowed to spend those 30 on skills you want when you pre-book... Go figure...
